Running Truly Helps The Heart & We Are Not Talking Aerobically!
It all started from a story that we read in Runner’s World and finished with delivering over $650,000 worth of local media for a third year walk and first year run. Homelessness in the metroplex is a big story but the challenge we faced was how to create something positive from what is traditionally perceived as a negative. So we got inspired by a story about a young woman who started training a group of homeless people for a half marathon and the idea was born.
Working closely with the Bridge in downtown Dallas we identified a group of healthy guests who were willing to train in a public program for the 5K run. Six weeks later and along with a bunch of different stories in media ranging from tv to radio to print to on line DFWRUNS delivered four happy runners across the finish line of the third annual Help the Homeless WalkAThon & 5K. Oh and we had nearly 700 runners participate in the first year race too. Need some help finding a creative buzz for your event? You know what to do.
